Abstract
Flow-based sample preparation is less susceptible to analyte loss and contamination. The sample processing is highly reproducible, allowing analytical applications of incomplete decompositions and extractions. In this project, strategies for on-line decompositions and extractions will be evaluated employing UV and microwave irradiation and liquid-liquid and solid-liquid interactions. The flow systems will be based on continuous reagent addition or multicommutation. Decompositions and pre-concentrations will be coupled for continuous analysis. The aim is the development of analytical procedures for phosphorus fractionation in natural waters and vegetable materials. On-line solid-liquid extraction will be evaluated, as well as new strategies for detection of rich-phase obtained from cloud point extraction. Batch sample microdigestion (including with suspensions) will be explored to enrich the fractionation studies in vegetable materials. Fast analytical procedures for pharmaceuticals determinations will be developed based on the quantification of heteroatoms (e.g. P, S, N, F) after on-line heterogeneous photoconversion using new strategies for the immobilization of semiconductors. The procedures will be employed for dynamical dissolution studies of pharmaceutical preparations. The analytical features will be estimated and the results of the analysis of real samples will be compared to the ones obtained with reference and/or alternative procedures in the literature. (AU)
