Abstract

Since 2007, with approval of Regular Project FAPESP 2007/00059-7, our group have been worked with evaluation of bulk and surface properties of titanium alloys for biomedical applications. Despite their excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility, titanium and its alloys are considered bioinert materials, i.e., when they are inserted into the human body are not form a chemical bond with bone. Several studies have been realized to modify the surface of these materials. In this year, we started a partnership with Dra Veronique Migonney to exchange acknowledgement about alternative techniques to modify the surface properties of these materials. This research is part of our Project CNPq (486352/2013) which objective is surface modification of titanium alloys. During her visit to Brazil, we plan several activities such as meeting with our group, short course and discussion about some results. The visit of Dr. Veronique Migonney will be very important for our institution and Graduate Program. (AU)
