Abstract

The project aims to give continuity to fifteen years of research on freedom of expression and censorship developed around the Miroel Silveira Archive of ECA-USP - set of 6137 cases of prior censorship to the theater from 1930 to 1970, in São Paulo, under guard the ECA/USP. It proposes to examine vetoed 12 plays, between 1932 and 19), ten different authors, trying to understand in depth the reasons for the closures and the impact they had on society when they were released and debuted. It aims to understand why such texts, once extinguished the organs of censorship, were ceasing to be restated and updated. To this end, we intend to develop an action research involving literature, documentary research, interviews, dramatic reading of the pieces, debates, audiovisual record of these activities and website creation to dissemination of the analysis. Thus, if an attempt is, deepen in the study of censorship as a ban on the distribution of the sensible concept proposed by Jacques Rancière as the dispute of symbolic production by public space and collective.
