Abstract

International agencies in the refugees' world have recognized the right to asylum on basis of sexual orientation and gender identity since 2002. The category "LGBT refugees" have been indicating asylum-seekers on these bases. This project aims to explore "refugees LGBTI" emerging category in an international rights scenario. The refugees' world in Brazil and Spain will be local settings for field research and ethnographic observation. Another focus is to explore how asylum seekers negotiate belongings and differences concerning to sexual and gender diversity. The ethnographical approach aims to explore production of categories and rights among different fields, as well as several ways by which people deal with categories related to refugee. (AU)
