Abstract

COLLECTION - Dimensions of developmentalist misery - Brazil and Latin America. Provisional presentation- Maria Orlanda Pinassi (org.). This collection is the result of several discussions involving the theme Politics and social classes within neoliberal capitalism carried out by the research team Work, Social Movements and Contemporary Sociability that I coordinate in the Social Sciences Post-graduate Program at FCL/UNESP Araraquara. The articles were gathered given the author´s greater or lesser closeness to the theoretical and methodological line that we affix in Marx and István Mészáros. The aim is to debate the concept that the Hungarian philosopher has about the neoliberal process of accumulation, in any of its possibilities of objectification, including neo-developmentalism, as an equivalent to the structural crisis of capital´s metabolic social system. In this regard, we believe that all texts that make up this collection deal with some dimension of this crisis, a concept that we intend to define in depth in the final publication. Among the authors some are or were formally under my supervision in Scientific Initiation, Master's and PhD. Some of them, who at first appeared in the Thematic Project´s list of participating researchers, applied for a position as teachers settling in distant places, making their continuity in the group's discussions very difficult. This is the case of Rogério Macedo, currently in Teófilo Otoni, northern Minas Gerais, and Rafael Bellan in Parintins, in the interior of Amazon. Other more recent students were integrated in the group and have been developing very interesting work on the issue that currently has accumulated a substantial wealth of results.Other more recent mentees have integrated the group and have been developing very interesting work on the issue that currently has accumulated a substantial wealth of results. It´s relevant to point out the integration of Argentinean authors, with whom I have been establishing close contact, from the Universidad de La Plata, where I taught a short course on the work of István Mészáros (in April 2013) and also Herramienta Review, of which I participate as a member of the Editorial Board that annually organizes international conferences on Marxist theory. The debate we hold revolves around the neo-developmentalist issue in Brazil and Argentina, which resulted in a joint project funded by the FAPESP / CONICET agreement, in effect since January this year. It was the only area of the humanities project to be approved within more than 20 other areas, above all, biological. The Brazilian team is composed by me (coordinator), by Luciana Henrique and Camilla Marcondes Massaro and the Argentinean team by Mariano Félix (economist and coordinator), Florencia Fajardo and Emiliano López.
