Abstract

Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC) is one of the new Brazilian Federal universities, created on July 26, 2005. For this reason, the support of development agencies is indeed essential for performing high-level research. In this proposal, we present a project to use the institutional infrastructure parcel of the Center for Mathematics, Computation and Cognition (CMCC). This proposal focuses on acquiring biometric locks for data collection laboratories and improvements to the electrical infrastructure for research, with the installation of a new power board for connection to the university generator and buying UPS for computer and data collect laboratories. In these laboratories, inter and multidisciplinary research activities are developed, with three main emphases: i) computational and mathematical modeling of biological systems, ii) high-performance computing with applications in neuroscience and bioinformatics and iii) neuroscience research (focusing in psychophysics and neurophysiology). The equipment and infrastructure improvements will be useful for approximating researches in areas related to math, computing and cognition. With support from FAPESP, we expect to perform quality research with an interdisciplinary character. (AU)
