Development of lighting system with LED technology for rural buildings.

Abstract

Egg production in Brazil demands a considerable amount of electricity for lighting. Typically, the lighting in the sheds is made with the use of lamps. However, the intensity of this lighting linked to the disposal of lamps (low uniformity in lighting on the floors of the cages) causes stress, altering the production of eggs from poultry and wastes electricity. Therefore, this project proposes to design and develop a lighting system on printed circuit tape (FCI) with LED for laying of accommodation cages that meets the bird needs, standardize the distribution of light intensity in the cages, allows the rational use of electricity, improve egg production and maintain the conditions for thermal comfort and well-being of birds. To this end, the project will be divided into two stages: development of the lighting system with LED FCI and validation even comparing it with the lighting system currently used. Thus, it is expected that the lighting system in FCI with LED provides better distribution of light on the floors of the cages, reduce energy consumption, improve egg production and maintain the conditions for thermal comfort and well-being of birds . This project is unprecedented nature in Brazil, because it proposes the development of a lighting system to meet only the needs of laying birds. Furthermore, this work will contribute to the illumination system methodology for developing FCI with LEDs that may be used for the development of other system for rural applications, such as poultry house for chickens and greenhouses.
