Abstract

This project aims the study of morphosedimentary characteristics of a coastal region of the Estuarine complex of Suape Harbour - Pernambuco State, Brazil. The analisys will focus on the relationship between the physical and geological parameters with the local biodiversity and the determination of new methods of coastal monitoring and management based on remote sensing and GIS framework. Especificaly we propose a bathymetric and textural mapping based on high resolution remote sensing images (WorldView 2/3 sattelites) and the development/adaptation of methodologies of marine and coastal habitat mapping and coastal landscape modeling in order to propose new ways to characterize and assess coastal zones management programs and propose empirical relationships between environmental variables and climate changes in short and medium time scale.
