Abstract

This project aims to study the biomechanical behavior of implants with an external hexagon (EH) connections, internal hexagon (IH), Morse taper (MT) and the Platform Switching concept (PSW) in low-density bone (type IV). In the first step, seven three-dimensional models (M1-7) representing an implant-prosthesis in the molar region, which will be simulated using 3D finite-element method (FEM-3D); M1, M2 and M3: EH, IH and MT implants - 4 x 10 mm; M4, M5 and M6: EH, IH, and MT implants - 5 x 10 mm; M7: PSW implants - 5 x 10 mm. The computer simulation will be performed with CT recovery scans in InVesalius software and CADs Rhinoceros 4.0 and Solidworks 2011 software. After this, the models will be exported to the finite element program (FEMAP 11.0) to model the mesh, restricting conditions, contacts and axial (0º - 200N) and oblique (45º - 100N) load. The models will be analyzed with Nastram software and imported into FEMAP software for viewing the results in the form of stress maps for qualitative analysis and subsequent quantitative analysis (p<0.05). In a next step, two systematic reviews and meta-analyses will be developed, adopting the Cochrane Group model. The outcomes analyzed will be the survival of dental implants in low-density bone tissue in adult humans 1) without systemic compromise and 2) with systemic compromise (patients with osteoporosis). These results will allow the development of a protocol to enhance the survival rate of implants in low-density bone tissue. (AU)
