Abstract

Abstract: In times of so-called digital culture, the continuous display of pictures and comments, which are posted by students who belittle and humiliate their teachers on social networks, seems to unbalance the poles of power relationship between teachers and students in an unprecedented manner. The amount of students' videos and comments, which recognize and praise their teachers in such networks, seems to be vastly lower compared to those who degrade their teachers, which are labeled as retarded, stupid, authoritarian, among other attributes. Brazil has been highlighted among the countries with the highest number of cyberbullying of teachers by students on YouTube. There are a lot of videos, whose images are recorded by mobile devices, and comments that can be accessed on YouTube anytime and anywhere. Given this situation, the main objective of this research project is to investigate the reasons why Brazilian students practice cyberbullying against their teachers, in so far as they post images and derogatory and humiliating comments about their educators on social networks, specifically in the case of YouTube. Quantitative and qualitative analyzes of students' videos and derogatory and humiliating comments regarding their teachers will be made. It is expected that the results can help not only the understanding of practicing cyberbullying Brazilian students against their teachers, as one of the manifestations of so-called digital culture, but also to support anti-cyberbullying actions within and outside schools.
