The student´s look mediated by digital technologies: YouTube and the (re)definition of the pedagogic relationship

Abstract

The presence of new technologies in the daily lives of children and young people takes place in an increasingly intense. In parallel, it is also significant repression of feelings in the classroom. Enclosed, students find no room for dialogue with their teachers, including about what they think about them. In this context, students seem to have found space in the virtual field to express their fears, anxieties and doubts. The videos´ network-sharing YouTube shows how this catharsis, however, can also be linked to a process of spectacular display and affirmation of the certainty of oneself, a situation that could be discussed pedagogically. Thus, this research aims to investigate how to configure the new relationships between teachers and students on new spaces of expression, such as YouTube. For this, will be analyzed images posted by students on this network share that deal with situations of tension between the actors of the educational process, as well as comments on these videos, based on Critical Theory and Freudian Psychoanalysis. If the new technologies should not be used disproportionately, its simple negation also affects the process of teaching and learning. This is one of the biggest challenges of education today: a new relationship between students and teachers from the dialogue with and about the new technologies.
