Abstract

Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) has been directed to the promotion and prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic health. Changes in lifestyle, especially those related to physical exercise, has been identified in order to promote better health. However, there is a lack of studies involving aerobic training and, moreover, does not know its effects on telomere length. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of aerobic exercise training in women with PCOS on telomere length, body composition and endocrine-metabolic parameters. It is controlled with random assignment, with randomization stratified by BMI of participants in 3 parallel groups trial: continuous aerobic training, intermittent aerobic training and group without training (control group), in the proportion of 1:1:2. The evaluations will take place before and after 16 weeks of exercise training intervention or observation in the control group. SHBG, lipid profile, glucose and fasting insulin, C-reactive protein and homocysteine - Plasma levels of testosterone, androstenedione, estradiol, binding globulin sex hormones are made. Telomere length is evaluated by real-time PCR and body composition measures by waist circumference and hip, the skinfold method, bioimpedance, and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. (AU)
