Abstract

The project aims at the study of the processes of construction of black identity in the periphery. We believe that this phenomenon presents itself simultaneously as a novelty. The racial discrimination that in 80 years was not explained by social movements emerge now clamouring for this much yearned different instances, in the sphere of leisure, in aesthetic expressions, speech and public acts. We will investigate especially the mechanisms of development of black identity and questions about racism in specific institutions. The ethnographic nature research will focus on activities in the Casa de Cultura of Piraporinha, the Forum in Defense of Life and the Sarau the Cooperifa. Music and literature will be our privileged study materials. The participant observation will allow to capture the phenomenon in other languages of public nature, gestures, discourses, images, performances. (AU)
