Abstract

In this project we propose a thermodynamic characterization of the so-called fluid/gravity correspondences, using the generalized thermodynamics of trapping horizons. The key elements of this plan are the thermodynamics proposed by Hayward and others; and the fluid/gravity correspondences, obtained through the hydrodynamic limit of the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondences and their generalizations, the gauge/gravity correspondences. The project involves the study of models of interest presented in the literature for the fluid/gravity correspondences, seeking a better characterization of the gravitational and field theoretical sides of the dualities, with the use of a thermodynamic analysis. In this program, the thermodynamic treatment presented by Hayward is particularly useful for the analysis of the asymptotically anti-de Sitter geometries relevant to the project. The new thermodynamic approach for the gravitational sector will be compared with the thermodynamic limit of the fluid side. Specific scenarios to be explored include holographic superconductors.
