Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study different hydrothermal systems, by applying proximal and distal spectral technologies, from regional to detailed scale. The objectives are to understand the paleohydrologic structure, evolution of the hydrothermal system and to generate prospective models and vectors to mineralized zones. To achieve this, two gold systems with different mineralizing styles were choose as case studies: (1) the first is represented by two gold deposits associated to felsic intrusives in the Auriferous Province of Alta Floresta, south of the Amazon Craton (Mato Grosso, Brazil), being one disseminated (Pé Quente) and other veinlet (União do Norte); (2) the second is a high sulphidation epithermal deposit (Jagüelito) from the Andean Cordillera of San Juan (Argentina). One part of this project is related to the application of remote sensing methods in Jagüelito with a regional scope in order to identify and map hydrothermal alteration zones on surface. The other part will target the mapping of alteration zones from all study cases through the mineral assemblages, and their spatial and temporal relations. Different methods, based on spectral data from visible-near-infrared, short-wave-infrared and thermal-infrared regions, will be applied on surface and drill core samples. (AU)
