Abstract

The project unites complementary expertise of model-building and effective theory expertise from University of Sao Paulo (USP) and expertise in collider phenomenology and cosmology from the Southampton University to explore problems related to Dark Matter (DM) and the underlying theory behind it. The existence of DM confirmed by several independent observations is undeniable experimental confirmation of the New Physics and the present experiments have unique opportunity to test it. On one hand, DM particles can be produced at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), providing signatures with missing transverse energy, such as mono-jets and mono-photons. On the other hand DM can be potentially observed in direct detection (DD) experiments searching for distinctive signal of DM scattering off nuclei. The current proposal is aimed to develop a state-of-art framework to explore DM properties, such as mass, spin, strength of the interactions as well as underlying theory behind it. The proposal includes building DM models; implementation of these models into respective tools for exploration of DM properties and collider simulation; performing exploration complementary of collider and DM DD searches including mono-jet, mono-boson and vector-boson fusion signatures; develop strategy of comparing/mapping of multidimensional model parameter space for collider and DD searches. This project will be performed in close contact with members of CMS collaboration at the LHC. (AU)
