Abstract

The diversity of causes and symptoms associated with tinnitus, and the lack of an effective medication for its treatment, has motivated research in the area. The use of imaging technology, with positron emission tomography (PET), allows the study of neural and functional alterations in these patients. The aim of this study is to compare the neural mapping of individuals with chronic tinnitus and without tinnitus, hearing loss associated with both, using the PET scan.
