Abstract

The products are multicopters tethered by cable for camera monitoring applications, aerial filming of events for TV, surveillance of events involving big agglomerations of people, telecommunication in remote areas, military tactical operations and as a signal repeating antenna. The tethered multicopters are composed of tether system, tether cable, suspension structure, multicopter and payload. The current maturity of the project allows fostering the market entry of rotorcraft solutions able to fly a payload of 10kg at na operating altitude of 100m. ALTAVE devised a concept validator of a captive multicopter in order to test the project feasibility. The prototype was designed with a total mass close to the one of the final solution. Although the results obtained with the development of this concept validator were robust and convincing, several points of this solution still need revision and improvement, sothata safe and reliable solution can be delivered to the end customer, Crossing the border between a prototype and product permanently. It is intended that with the Project PIPE Phase 2 Direct 2015/00703-7 it will be possible to investigate the uncertainty in the level of control systems, optimizations, comparative analysis of electrical layouts and architectures, while Phase 3 will be concerned with practical aspects of production, usability, security, transportation, durability and reliability. These steps are essential in transforming a prototype into a product. (AU)
