Uses of solid residues obtained from orange juice production and coffee dregs as fillers for polymeric compounds

Abstract

The research proposal aims to evaluate the possibility to use solid residues obtained from orange juice industrial production and coffee dregs obtained from industrial instant coffee production and coffee grounds obtained from coffee brewing as fillers to modify thermoplastics as polymeric compounds. Both orange juice peel and coffee dregs are collected as large amounts of solid residues from industrial productions. As cellulose substances have similar properties as wood flour to be used to produce polymeric compounds to be used as WPC. That propose will be investigated with teh collaboration of EMBRAPA Instrumentation company (CNPDIA) from São Carlos. (AU)
