Assessing the efficiency of pneumatic captive bolt guns for cattle stunning

Abstract

Prof Neville Gregory is recognized as one of the world's leading animal welfare scientific authorities, particularly in relation to the application of animal welfare concepts and methods during pre- and slaughter handling and meat quality. The present proposal aims to bring Prof. Neville as a visiting professor at FCAV-UNESP, Jaboticabal, where he will deliver classes (for graduated students) and lectures, besides acting as an advisor in two research projects, which involves the use of electroencephalography technics to monitor the efficiency of stunning methods applied to cattle and pigs. Additionally, Prof. Gregory will collaborate with other projects, acting as a consultant, and offering to the students the opportunity to improve their research projects and manuscripts. (AU)
