Abstract

Despite pulmonary valve regurgitation is well tolerated right after surgical repair of Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), it can lead to progressive right ventricular dilation and consequent dysfunction. Even though indications of pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) exist, the ideal timing for such a procedure in asymptomatic patients remains undefined. Objective: To evaluate the right ventricular volume reduction after pulmonary valve replacement in the late postoperative period; evaluate early and late morbi-mortality related to the surgical procedure; determinate quality of life and functional capacity after PVR. Methods: Retrospective and prospective study of patients in late postoperative of TOF submitted to PVR due pulmonary insufficiency. Evaluation of data from medical records and comparison of ventricular volume before and after procedure. We will perform quality of life and evaluation of functional capacity after one year of postoperative follow up. (AU)
