Abstract

The purchase of this equipment will be of pivotal importance to all members of the CERSusChem to fulfill their basic needs of research, as the proposal aims the preparation, separation and identification of enantiomerically pure or chiral enriched substances. Therefore, we plan to use the ultra-performance liquid chromatography as analytical tool. This new technology provides both high speed and resolution without sacrificing basic parameters of the analysis. A very important characteristic of this system is the rate at which analysis can be executed - this factor will facilitate the identification and characterization of the synthesized compounds by our staff, and thus, the results can be obtained in a quickly and effectively way. Furthermore, we also have to emphasize that this device has, supercritical CO2 as mobile phase in the presence of small amounts of a co-solvent. This feature avoids the need to purchase special solvents, which are generally expensive, being a waste free apparatus - therefore contributing to the principles of green chemistry. (AU)
