Abstract

This project is a target in a group of poor students enrolled in higher education courses, whose trajectory is associated with two federal Brazilian programs: the Bolsa Família Program (PBF) and the University for All Program (ProUni). Both programs based on the premise that education is important for the fight against poverty. The research aims to answer the following questions. What were the trajectories of these people and their individual and / or family strategies (before and after the entry into higher education) so that they could access and stay in a University? What importance they give to inclusion policies, such as the Bolsa Família Program and ProUni? Or in what ways these students focus their personal / family effort the possibility of having entered and remained at the University? What importance they attach to education received in these trajectories? What are the wishes of these students in the future and the objective chances that actually have to implement them? The research is based on twenty (20) semi-structured interviews with former beneficiaries of PBF who attend higher education at a university in the state of São Paulo. The research aims contribute to a better understanding of the trajectory of these students and their individual strategies and family to access and stay in a university; on the role played by the PBF and the ProUni in these trajectories as well as that played by personal and / or family effort.
