Abstract

The aim of this proposal is to bring an outstanding Visiting Researcher (Dr. David J. Argyle) in the area of Translational Veterinary Oncology to open new possibilities for the ongoing research projects at the Laboratory of Comparative and Translational Oncology (LOCT-USP) of the School of Animal Science and Food Engineering, University of Sao Paulo, Campus Fernando Costa at Pirassununga-SP. The Lab was recently established (2014) by funds from the USP (NAP-ONCOVET) and FAPESP (Young Investigator Award entitled Mammary Tumors of Bitches and the Cancer Stem Cell Theory: A Comparative and Translational Approach, 2014-0249317). The FZEA-USP is an emerging research institution regarding experimental oncology, therefore, it is very important the establishment of this international collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and the Roslin Institute specifically with the group of Dr. Argyle. The activities during the time Prof. Argyle will be in Brazil are: (1) a seminar of the ongoing research carried out in the Laboratory of Comparative and Translational Oncology; (2) a short-course on Innovative drug and reagent development for Veterinary and Comparative Oncology and (3) meetings for discussions on future collaborative research proposals between USP and U. of Edinburgh.
