Abstract
Skin cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in the world, and its main cause is excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation coming from the sun. Oxidative stress, one of the responsible factors for the development of carcinomas, is also associated with frequent exposure to UV radiation. The use of photoprotective formulations are the most effective measures to protect against the malignant effects of this type of radiation. Furthermore, they contain elements which absorb and / or reflect the radiations, and also contain components which may assist in skin homeostasis, such as antioxidants. The present study will use ferulic acid, a natural compound recognized as antioxidant activity, along with two sunscreens, bemotrizinol and triazone octyl, in the realization of biosafety and effectiveness methods, aiming the improvement of techniques and a better understanding of the effects of the ferulic acid. In vivo, in vitro and ex vivo techniques will be used to characterize elements such as irritability, inflammatory potential, antioxidative potential, permeability and hydration of the molecule. (AU)
