Abstract

Since the seventeenth century microscopes are used for microscopic life observation. The use of microscopes has played an important role in both the study and teaching of biology, but many schools do not have infrastructure to teach practical lessons using such equipment. Some alternatives have emerged, such as the development of virtual microscopes. The current stage of development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) enables us to go further in order to seek alternatives for microscopy to be inserted not only to show pictures to the students that can not be seen with the bare eye, but also to develop science interest and scientific research skills. In this sense this project proposes to customize and to use a remote microscopy lab prototype to conduct research experiments collaboratively, having microscopes that can be remotely manipulated to carry out microscopic life observations and analysis by students in schools at any location that has a computer with Internet access.
