Abstract

This research is being jointly developed by the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). This research has been submitted and approved to the call RFP#16-022 of the Inter-American Development Bank. The UCSD is the leader institution and the project will be coordinated by Profa. Jennifer Burney, from the Policy Design & Evaluation Lab. In UNICAMP, the research will be coordinated by the Professors Alexandre Gori Maia and Rodrigo Lanna Franco da Silveira, from the Center for Agricultural and Environmental Economics - Institute of Economics. The UNICAMP team will serve as in-country coordinators for key activities including: i) planning for the inception meeting of all project partners in Brazil; ii) interfacing with Participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) and Participating Technical Institutions (PTIs); iii) Conducting preliminary survey of PFIs; iv) Negotiating retrieval of data from IBGE and INMET (Brazilian agricultural statistics and weather data); v) Working with UCSD team on all analysis; vi) Leading training of PFIs in use of the climate risk assessment tool. We are inviting Professor Jennifer Burney to UNICAMP to plan the research activities, propose and develop joint publications and to present results of previous researches related to the topic to professors and post-graduation students of the Institute of Economics - UNICAMP. The main idea is to strength the partnership of research between UNICAMP and UCSD. (AU)
