InCor registry of chronic ischemic cardiovascular disease

Abstract

The chronic ischemic cardiovascular disease (CICD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In turn, the Heart Institute - School of Medicine, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, (InCor) - is a leading cardiovascular hospital in Latin America, contributing to the exponential growth in the number of clinical trials on heart diseases conducted in the region. The primary goals of this project are (1) to describe patients with CICD at InCor in terms of demographic and clinical features, as well as identifying gaps (and possibly causes) between the offered therapies and therapies based on guidelines, and (2) assess clinical outcomes in the long term follow-up and its determinants in this patient population. The secondary objective is to promote the interaction of patient information with CICD between InCor and other national and international centers. This is an observational longitudinal, contemporary, prospective, single-center registry about CICD patients with a 36-month follow-up. Patients will be included in the regularity of 240 patients per month. An updated registry of CICD will provide important information to answer questions about: (1) the recent profile of the patient population suffering from this potentially serious and limiting disease and (2) the available and emerging strategies for the prevention and management of CICD. Moreover, this registry will enable a scientific exchange between national and international specialized agencies. Finally, it is expected to promote the design of proposed strategies for the prevention of cardiovascular disease, with the potential to influence the management of policies on the resources allocated to health.
