Abstract

This project intends to create the research project visual culture and intellectual history: archives and collections of architecture, in the History Department of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in the University of São Paulo. It deals with the institutional and intellectual dialogs established by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of USP, today recognizable through its collections. It's about to investigate the Library's collections - composed by the Book Sector and the Iconographic Sector - and the archive of the Laboratory of Audiovisual Resources - today divided into a Laboratory of Photography and a Laboratory of Cinema -, from the understanding of a visual culture that is particular to the second half of the twentieth century. It is about an intellectual history, identified by a transcontinental police interested in different kinds of documents, raised since the 1970's in Europe and North America. The FAUUSP's archives and collections as result of a transnational culture, with a strong appeal to the visuality, is the main subject of this research project. (AU)
