Member of the Scientific Committee for a critical edition of the work of J. Burckhardt, responsible for organization and edition of Burckhardt's writings in Italy, Switzerland and Germany. He is the editor for the Getty Foundation (Los Angeles) of Burckhardt's work in English. Is responsible for organization and editing in Italy of Heinrich Wölfflin's last great work, Italy and the German feeling of form (2001). Ghelardi was responsible for organize Italian edition of the work of Aby Warburg, which contains unpublished texts in the original language (German). He is a collaborator of cultural activities at the Louvre Museum, the Warburg Institute (London), the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence and the Villa I Tatti (Harvard University - Florence). Among his works there are: La scoperta del Rinascimento. L'etat di Raffaello di Jacob Burckhardt (1991), Aby Warburg. La lotta per lo stile (2012), Le stanchezze della modernitá: una biografia intellettuale di Jacob Burckhardt (2016).The collaboration with the Visiting Researcher, Ghelardi, began in 2001, when Prof. Fernandes, completed a PhD Sanduíche internship for 18 months at the University of Pisa and SNS-Pisa, under the supervision of M. Ghelardi and Sandro Barbera, resulting in the thesis defended in 2002 at UNICAMP: The figure of man between word and Image: autobiography and pictorial portraiture in the Jacob Burckhardt Renaissance. Since then, the academic contact between Prof. Responsible and the Visiting Researcher remained active, intensifying from 2009 when Ghelardi began to work in events and short courses in Minas Gerais (where Fernandes was professor) and then in São Paulo. Under the supervision of M. Ghelardi, Fernandes organized, translated and edited the writings of Burckhardt: The Portrait in Italian Renaissance Painting (Ed. UNICAMP/UNIFESP, 2012), as well as Warburg's, Aby Warburg 1, in the press of Ed. UNICAMP. The stay of Ghelardi as Visiting Researcher in 2017 will be fundamental for the work in the 2nd vol. The unpublished of Warburg, dedicated to his writings on astrology in the Renaissance. Thus, the stay of Ghelardi in UNIFESP will be important for the development of this research, in addition to deepening the collaboration between UNIFESP and SNS-Pisa, within the ambit of the aforementioned academic agreement, signed in 2016.This proposal aims fortifie the Department and Master in Art History of UNIFESP. The DHA came about with the creation of a Bachelor of Art History in 2009, a pioneering initiative in proposing the articulation of Art with the Human Sciences and the first to be created autonomously in the universities of São Paulo.
