Praxis in the landscape and the experience of the ecological knowledge among quilombolas and caboclos (Atlantic Forest and Amazonia)

Abstract

In the field of Environmental Anthropology, the general model proposed by Tim Ingold, connecting the concept of praxis and the human perception (in the) environment, has been rarely incorporated in ethnobiological or ethnoecological studies. With the project, I propose to aggregate, a number of researchers, among biologists and anthropologists of national and international academic institutions, to explore the research gap above mentioned. To this end, the ethnographic contexts of the quilombolas from the Ribeira Valley (SP) and of the caboclos from the Amanã Reserve (AM) will be investigated. By comparing these two case studies, we will be able to analyze the connections between praxis and the environmental knowledge in the light of an ethnografic and ethnoecological approach. Finally, regarding the academic contributions of this project, we also hope to encourage the research dialogue between the ethnosciencies and the Environmental Anthropology, which is still very incipient in Brazil.
