Abstract
Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a powerful tool for ultrasensitive, non-destructive and real-time analysis. Noble metals with rough surfaces are typically used as SERS substrates. The aim of this project is to provide versatility to this class of sensors by designing platforms in which nanoarrays of mixed metals are concomitantly present on the sensing surface. This is important for aiming a unique device capable of responding to a wide excitation wavelength, which is a requirement for analyzing complex samples. Our objective is to combine the template-assisted electrodeposition technique mastered at USP with the light-activated electrochemistry technique developed at UNSW to propose a protocol for preparing such surfaces without involving more costly microfabrication techniques.
