Abstract

Through this collaboration, we propose a series of exchange activities to collectively work through the methodological and ethical challenges of doing digital ethnography with vulnerable communities. By vulnerable communities, we understand people or groups that are socially and economically constrained, but also entangled in other asymmetrical social relations that maximize their precarity. This will directly apply to the team members research on gender, feminism, children and teenagers, violence, activism, immigrants. The exchange will engage with members of ethics committees from both partners. At the end of the exchange, the team of both countries will develop a joint research project to submit to an international call for funding projects on the topic of digital culture and vulnerable groups. This continues a series of separate projects that the teams in each country are already working on that connect with vulnerable communities and digital technologies. Learning from each team will allow us to develop a common ground for a future project. (AU)
