Abstract

Engtelco Engenharia de Telecomunicações is a company that provides services in the area of Telecommunication since 2004, specializing in radiofrequency tests and measurements up to 40 GHz. The services provided include: development of new products, Certification / approval and acceptance of lots in dedicated products such as DTH (direct to home). The quality and efficiency of the services provided attracted the interest of several companies in Brazil like SKY, CLARO TV, GVT, VIVO, BrasilSAT, W3SAT, PRCentury and abroad, as: Sinuta and Famaval in Portugal; Kathrein in Germany; and GT-SAT in Luxembourg. The know-how and quality of the services provided by Engtelco over the last 13 years have enabled Engtelco to be the exclusive product certification and product approval and production batch acceptance service for CLARO TV, SKY, GVT and VIVO. The tests performed nowadays follow a systematic and low cost process of verifying the quality of commercial parabolic antennas, by means of only the mechanical topography of the surface of the antenna reflector. These simplified acceptance tests allow only the gain reduction caused by the antenna surface to be parameterized. In order to continuously improve its testing and measurement services, Engelco's objective in this project is to carry out applied research to establish a robust, efficient and low-cost process of estimating indirectly the gain reduction caused by misalignment, linear and / or angular separation of the commercial satellite dish feeder system used in DTH satellite reception systems provided by companies marketing satellite TV services. The set of activities to be carried out involves a sequence of specific and interdependent activities, which include: topological measurement of the mechanical structure of real parabolic antennas, computational simulations of electromagnetic properties and anechoic chamber tests, in such a way that the predictions obtained through computational simulation are compared with the experimental results, in order to preliminarily validate the model of the indirect process to measure the gain reduction of a real offset satellite antenna, as a function of LNB misalignment. At the end of this project, it is expected to obtain conclusive results that indicate the feasibility of establishing a robust, efficient and low-cost process of indirectly estimating the gain reduction of commercial offset parabolic antennas caused by linear misalignment and / or angular position of the feeder system. The proposed research will allow Engtelco to internalize knowledge, methodology and technology, so that the process innovation to be generated allows the company to become the only company to accept and validate LNB alignment tests in Brazil, which will place the Company in the international market. This project has the potential to leverage the level of internationalization of the services provided by Engtelco. Although Engtelco already certifies products from international suppliers of equipment, the company aims to become an accredited laboratory of companies providing satellite telecommunications services, such as DirecTV-USA and SKY Mexico.
