Abstract

Switched systems are composed of a finite number of subsystems and a rule that selects at each instant of time one of them. Its study is very common in several engineering areas, as for instance, power electronics, robotics, automotive industry, among others. Our goal is to treat two main classes: switched linear and affine systems. Concerning the first, the literature provides important results based on the so called Lyapunov-Metzler inequalities, which are nonconvex and, therefore, difficult to solve for a great number of subsystems. Recently, new conditions expressed in terms of LMIs have been obtained for discrete-time systems which can assure global asymptotic stability for cases where the Lyapunov-Metzler inequalities are infeasible. Our idea is to obtain alternative equivalent conditions that allow to cope with state and dynamical output feedback control design taking into account H2 and Hoo performance indexes. The second class is dedicated to the study of switched affine systems, which are more involved than the linear ones, due to the existence of several equilibrium points. Our goal is to design a limited frequency switching rule by minimizing the volume of an invariant region to where the state trajectories are attracted, considering the state and output feedback cases. As an important stage, in the cases to be specified, all the theoretical results will be validated experimentally using the active suspension to be acquired and the equipments already existent in the laboratory. Finally, the last part of strictly academic nature is dedicated to preparing and writing a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students of Linear Signal Analysis. (AU)
