Abstract

This study aims to verify quality of life and mental health indicators, hazardous use of alcohol and other psychoactive substances, risk behaviors, as well as to elucidate the socio-demographic, socio-cultural and psychosocial identity profile of UNICAMP students. A questionnaire will be distributed in classrooms, addressing socio-demographic aspects, psychosocial identity, risk and protective behaviors for physical and mental health - sleep, physical activity, substance use and also other characteristics that influence the identity and behavior of this population, such as sexuality, spirituality and religious practice, political and worldview values and concepts. The random sample will consist of 20% of the approximately 20,000 undergraduate students from UNICAMP, (n = 4,000 students), regularly enrolled in UNICAMP, in the campuses of Campinas, Limeira and Piracicaba, including daytime, nighttime and full time classes of the various years and semesters of the courses. Students will be randomly selected, ensuring that each area of concentration (human sciences, arts, exact and technological sciences, health and biological sciences) is proportionally represented. Those who refuse to answer the questionnaire or are absent at the time of the interview will not be interviewed. An analytical study will be conducted to identify which factors are related to worse (or better) levels of quality of life and mental health. The identification of the factors mentioned above will allow a deeper knowledge of this population, in order to plan preventive programs of health promotion, physical and mental health care, and actions to improve the quality of life of the students.
