Abstract

Nanotechnology is a billion dollar business worldwide because of its huge application potential. The impact on the academic, business and societal sectors is striking and is likely to increase with an ever-increasing flow of investment in the coming years. One of the sectors of nanotechnology with great potential of application are the systems of controlled release of drugs in search of a better therapeutic efficacy. The proposed research project will comprise the study of the synthesis and physical-chemical characterization of polymer nanoparticles for application in controlled release systems using alpha-aryl-N-aryl-Nitrones. The aim will be: morphological evaluation, determination of the incorporation of nitrones in the polymer matrices, stability tests of the activity and cytotoxicity tests of N-aryl-alpha aryl nitrone class molecules incorporated in the polymer matrices, test. Several techniques will be used for physico-chemical characterization (XRD, DSC, TGA, FEG-SE, FTIR and MICRO-RAMAN), in vitro release assays and cytotoxicity tests (cell culture and cell viability) (AU)
