Abstract

At present, no gas-fired domestic gas stove in Brazil has the use of a swirler. Preliminary tests, performed using simple prototypes and instruments, have demonstrated that the use of this device can generate up to 20% more efficiency than conventional cooker burners. The proposal of this project is to develop a tabletop burner that is more efficient (in terms of energy and emissivity) than those currently marketed. The efficiency test shall be carried out in accordance with the efficiency analysis test described in NBR 13723-1 (Domestic gas cooking appliance, Part 1: Performance and safety) and NBR 13723-2 (Domestic cooking gas appliance Part 2: Rational use of energy). A market study will also be carried out considering possible efficiency gains to be obtained in the tests. A preliminary and simplified analysis indicated that about 8 million stoves are traded domestically in Brazil per year. The goal is to achieve at least 5% of this market (ie approximately 400,000 stoves / year with at least one swirl spreader), offering a versatile, economical and non-polluting product that can easily replace the spreader of a conventional burner without changing any other component of the cooker.
