Abstract

The presence of the professor in the institution adds to a significant effort I have been making to recompose and expand the traditional line of PPGAS-USP research on Africa and African and Afro-Brazilian Populations. In recent years, the two main professors in the area at USP and in Brazil (Kabengele Munanga and Carlos Serrano) have retired and we have not been able to replace them with professors who were researching in African. I've been working to rebuilt this area. (AU)
