Abstract

The fabrication of quantum devices exploring low dimensional systems requires nanofabrocation tools such as e-beam lithografphy. Nanostructures created by self-assembly, like quantum dots and wires, represent interesting alternatives. Nevertheless, for situations where one seeks to tap into single electrons, photons or spins, it is of utmost importance the isolation of single objects. The goal of this research proposal for a PhD program is to investigate the electronic properties of small ensembles, comprising tens or hundreds of nanostructures, as well as single isolated nanostructures. With that one can evaluate issues such as uniformity and dispersion within ensembles.
