Abstract

The concept of Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) has been applied by several engineering sectors for the development of high performance products. Despite the considerable potential for development of high performance fiber-cement, the FGM concept has not been applied in fiber-cement technology so far.In this work, the FGM concept will be used to develop optimized performance fiber-cement corrugated sheets. Fiber-cement plates will be produced in laboratory for the establishment of materials mixture rules. Conventional and innovative materials of the Brazilian fiber-cement industry (polymeric resin and carbon fibers) will be used. FGM fiber-cement corrugated sheets will be developed using finite elements method (FEM) and produced in industrial scale. Mechanical performance, durability and economic viability of the FGM corrugated sheets will be evaluated.
