Abstract

We will study the properties of a set of LINERs - Active Galaxies with low ionization. The main objective is to establish a methodology for characterizing each object with respect to its fundamental ionization/excitation properties. We will select an unbiased set of galaxies within 30 megaparsecs that have been classified as LINERs or transition objects. Observations with the Gemini and Soar telescopes will be proposed and the data analysis will be made with the PCA technique.
