Abstract

Inserted in the revision process of the architectural and urbanistic ideals of the beginning of twentieth century, that were pledged in searching answers to the new social demands created by the technological advances through conceptually characterized projects and radically innovating poetics, this work intends to contextualize and relate this architectural production with the representations of architecture and city in the cinema. Analyzing the films produced between the beginning of the century and the start of World War II, the study will try to establish the dialogues between the architectural production of the period and its artistic-cultural context with a potential instrument of collective communication of extreme importance at that time - the cinema.
