Abstract

Pasteurella multocida is the most common specie from Pasteurella genus, being an important pathogen in veterinary and human medicine. This Gram- Negative bacterium has been identified as causative agent of diverse economic important diseases and as a highly potential zoonotic agent. The goals of present study are characterize through polymerase chain reaction and PFGE, strains of P. multocida isolated from oral cavity of cat and dog. Infections derived from cat and dog bites are not very studied in our country, although it is frequent, mainly among veterinary and breeders.
