Abstract

Public opinion was an important factor for political decisions in modern states during the 19th century in France, in England, in the United States of America and, among other place, also in Brazil. History books about the Brazilian political system usually forget the important role that public opinion played during the 19th century. But, there exists a kind of historical documents that are still unknown and that can enlighten our comprehension about the conection between the parliament decisions and the peoples needs: they are the requests sent to the temporary house of parliament by individuals or groups of brazilian citizens. In order to obtain a masters degree I will develop a dissertation about this kind of document, with it I hope to unravel the conections between the voices of brazilian nation and the political decisions during the reign of D. Pedro II.
