Abstract

Professional Counseling (PC) has become an important acting area of psychologists, so that psychological assessment has always been related to OP, being important, mainly, in the investigation of professional interests and personality. However, since 1980's decade, international literature has shown a big increase in publications on self-efficacy applied to professional choice, something that does not happen in Brazil. So, the present project aims to construct a self-efficacy scale to Professional choice, through 2 studies. At the first one, the items will be built, based on theory. These initial items will go under judges' analysis in order for them to assess the theoretical adjustment, so that further, a preliminary study will be made with about 150 Brazilian High School students, from three grades and public or private schools. Descriptive analysis from subjects and instrument will be proceeded and also exploratory factorial analysis, in order to investigate the items' intern structure. The second study will aim to assess the psychometric properties of the scale built on the first study, that will be correlated (Pearson r) with Escala de Aconselhamento Profissional and Bateria Fatorial de Personalidade About 300 Brazilian high school students will be subjects, from thee grades, from both public and private schools. Mean differences between genders, types of school and grades will be verified, as well as the confirmation on the factorial analysis found in study 1, through confirmatory factorial analysis and, intern consistence by Cronbach's Alpha coefficient.
