Dental reimplant after root canal obturation with calcium hydroxide paste associated to MTA apical plug: histomorphometric study in rats

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the repair process of late reimplant in teeth of rats following filling of root canal with calcium hydroxide paste and MTA apical plug. Forty rats will be divided into 4 groups (n=10). Superior right incisors will be extracted and remained exposed to environment during 60 minutes, except for Group I since the incisors will be reimplanted immediately after extraction. In the Group II the incisors will be reimplanted after the 60 minutes without endodôntico treatment. In the Group III and IV, all teeth will be immersed in solution of sodium fluoride acid phosphate for 10 minutes. The root canals will be prepared and filled with the following materials: Group III: calcium hydroxide paste, Group IV: calcium hydroxide paste with MTA apical plug (4mm in thickness). The animals will be sacrified at 60 days following reimplant and the specimens will be submitted to histological and histometric analysis. (AU)
