Abstract The various theories and approaches within the discipline of anthropology developed their programs based on the founding epistemological presupposition of alterity. In his work, Roy Wagner builds a particular interpretative stance based on this premise. His insertion in the field of anthropology and the manner in which he presents his formulations are thus organized in view of his dialogue with a certain epistemology. After deconstructing the author's theoretical and analytical stance, I intend to trace the dialogues based on which it was created as a baseline for discussing the epistemological presuppositions implicit in the formulations that suppose the existence of a point of view of the "other". In order to grasp and present the argumentative development of the theory proposed by Wagner, I will resort especially to the analytical framework offered by the method of structural analysis and to the methodology of "deconstruction" developed by Jacques Derrida. This method of analysis makes it possible to establish the logical connections between the arguments of a text and to observe the construction of its argumentative chain so as to make explicit the implicit presuppositions referring to the broader epistemological horizon of the discipline. | |
