Abstract

This research aims at analyzing Sérgio Ferro's approach to participation, collective creation, collective work end political engagement in the construction site, in search of similar elements in the art of the 60s, specifically in the manifestations employed by the New Objectivity, with special attention to Hélio Oiticica. Through this, it is intended to trace the possible correspondent elements in the architecture and art of the 60s, and to contribute for the understanding of the architectural developments since then. It also aims at studying in which ways these concepts of creation and collective work, associated to participation, are related to a greater cultural and historical context of the 60s, which is different from the national-development ideals and the popular approach of the previous moment. These issues will be analyzed basing on the discussion about "Antiarte" and the redefinition of the "object". Then, our hypothesis is that there is, effectively, a dialogue between Ferro and Oiticica, and that their propositions have correlate aspects, amongst, evidently, each specific context. This research will utilize a historical method (Cf, Aróstegui, 2006), which involves an essentially comparative study. This will be complemented by the data collection (interviews, visits to projects etc.). Though this study, we believe to bring new and relevant elements for the understanding of the dialogue of architecture and art, and, above all, for the elucidation about some questions aroused by the architectural propositions of this moment, as well as their repercussions to nowadays.
