Abstract

This project aims to consider the west of São Paulo Kaingang categories of thought in its ritual dimension. For that, try to observe the reality of such groups, by means of fieldwork in Vanuíre village. It should be emphasized that this research is a deepening of issues raised in previous work, which received support from the Foundation for the Support of Research of the State of São Paulo - FAPESP. Previous insertions in Vanuíre inspired the study of issues such as the possible interface between Shamanism and Pentecostalism among indigenous peoples. It also problematizes the daily expression of Kaingang religiousness in relation to the presence of churches Congregação Cristã no Brasil and Assembléia de Deus in the village. It is intended to observe the ritual dimension of this people in their worship and festivals, coupled with their daily lives. More specifically, this study attempts to involve Kaingang´s social practice in the discussion on Jê-Bororo dualism. Contemporary authors started this debate, but focus South groups in their ethnographies. Ethnologic recent works are scarce in western Sao Paulo, and this work aims to contribute in filling this gap.
